In SW Europe, Lesser Horseshoe Bat is recorded both in
forests and in agricultural and grassland areas. Maternity colonies
in Serbia include 5-30 bats and are situated in buildings or caves.
Hibernation colonies may include up to 500 bats. This species is
sedentary, rarely moving more than 20 km from the colony. In the
period 1999-2017 there were 113 ringed bats, mostly in vicinity of
Valjevo (W Serbia) and Lazareva Pećina cave (E Serbia). There are
10 loco records, one 8 years, 2 months and 20 days after ringing
