dc.description.abstract | At present, brown adipose tissue (BAT) is considered not only as thermogenic but also as an important endocrine organ, essential for the maintenance of the total energetic homeostasis of an organism. Its fascinating ability for remodeling (hyperplasia/atrophy) integrates the most intricate cellular and physiological processes such as proliferation and differentiation of brown adipocytes, angiogenesis, mitochondriogenesis, cell death, uncoupling, etc. At the same time, during the last century, free radical biology passed a path paved with thorns to reach the current concept of the redox regulation. In the present study, the above mentioned processes in BAT, i.e. in brown adipocytes will be considered from the aspect of redox regulation paying a special attention to the participation of reactive species of oxygen and nitrogen, as well as of carbon monoxide. | en |
dc.description.abstract | Mrko masno tkivo danas se razmatra ne samo kao termogeni, već i kao važan endokrini organ esencijalan za održanje ukupne energetske homeostaze organizma. Njegova fascinantna sposobnost remodeliranja (hiperplazija/atrofija) objedinjuje najintrigantnije celularne i fiziološke procese: proliferaciju i diferencijaciju mrkih adipocita, angiogenezu mitohondriogenezu, ćelijsku smrt, ankuplovanje... Paralelno sa tim slobodnoradikalska biologija je u prethodnom veku prošla trnovit put do sadašnjeg koncepta redoks regulacije. Ovaj rad razmatra pomenute procese u mrkom masnom tkivu (mrkim adipocitima) sa aspekta redoks regulacije (modulacije), posebno učešća reaktivnih vrsta kiseonika i azota, kao i ugljen monoksida. | sr |
