Prvi nalaz andosola u Srbiji na Radan planini
The first record of andosols in Serbia - Radan Mt
Abstract:
Radan Mt is part of Lece andesite complex with several volcanic craters and calderas. Lece andesite complex comprises of pyroclastics: breccias agglomerate, tuff and andesite flows, necks and dikes. The dominant vegetation is beech forest. The objective of this investigation was aimed at studying the mineralogy and chemical properties of volcanic ash soils developed on andesite and andesite tuff around the summit Šapot 1409 m. For the first time in Serbia processes of andosolisation are detected and described. This is, at the same time, the second site of andosols on the Balkan Peninsula, after the noted andosols on the Santorini island (Greece). The investigated andosols are acid to slightly acid of dystric characteristics, loamy to clayey-loamy texture, and rich in humus. High phosphate retention (over 70%), low bulk density and about 2% of Alox + 1/2 Feox extracted by ammonium oxalate meet andic soil properties criteria. The clay fraction is composed mainly of halloysite, illite, chlorite, allophane CT-opal, crystobalite, tridimite and feldspars.
