In this study, the concentrations of seven metals were determined in two commercial fish
species, roach and white bream caught at two different sites in the Belgrade part of the
Danube. The measured metal concentrations were below the standard concentrations
recommended EU and the Republic of Serbia regulations. The EDI index values are far
below the reference doses, which means that the risk of eating the fish analysed is minimal.
The results obtained show no clear influence of untreated wastewater on the concentration
of metals in the muscle of fish, but continuous monitoring of these pollutants is still
necessary.
