AB  - Slatkovodni ekosistemi su, zbog sve izraženijeg antropogenog pritiska (zagađivanje, izgradnja brana i hidroelektrana, regulacija tokova, degradacija staništa, eksploatacija šljunka, klimatske promene...), najugroženiji od svih ekosistema na Zemlji. Navedene aktivnosti imaju nesagledive negativne efekte na akvatične beskičmenjake koji ceo ili deo svog životnog veka provode u vodi. U toku 2021. godine izvršena je procena stepena ugroženosti akvatičnih beskičmenjaka na osnovu IUCN kriterijuma. Uzimajući u obzir samo najugroženije kategorije prema IUCN kriterijumima (CR, EN, VU, NT), 82 vrste vodenih beskičmenjaka u Srbiji je ugroženo i predloženo za Crvenu knjigu akvatičnih beskičmenjaka. Larve i adulti vodenih insekata (35 vrsta) i slatkovodni rakovi (34 vrste) su najugroženiji, a pored njih ugroženo je i 10 puževa, dve školjke i jedna medicinska pijavica. Za 26 vrsta predložen je status kritično ugrožene vrste (CR), 23 su sa statusom ugrožene vrste (EN), ranjivih vrsta (VU) ima 17, dok je 7 vrsta gotovo ugroženo (NT). Pored nabrojanih, za 8 vrsta nema dovoljno podataka o ugroženosti (nedovoljno poznate vrste, DD), a vilinski konjic Leucorrhinia caudalis sa područja Srbije je isčezao (RE). Veliki broj ugroženih vrsta vodenih makroinvertebrata u Srbiji, među kojima su endemiti i stenoendemiti, ukazuje na „alarmantno“ stanje pre svega zbog staništa koja ovi organizmi naseljavaju, te bi zaštita istih svakako bio prioritet. Veoma važno je preduzeti sve mere, kako zakonske tako i naučne, kako navedene ugrožene vrste ne bi u skorijoj budućnosti iščezle sa prostora Srbije. Svakako da bi Crvena knjiga akvatičnih beskičmenjaka trebala da bude polazna osnova za sve aktivnosti, koje mogu da preuzmu nadležne institucije i nevladine organizacije u Srbiji, u cilju zaštite vodenih staništa i ugroženih vrsta vodenih beskičmenjaka.
AB  - Слатководни екосистеми су, због све израженијег антропогеног притиска
(загађивање, изградња брана и хидроелектрана, регулација токова, деградација
станишта, експлоатација шљунка, климатске промене...), најугроженији од свих
екосистема на Земљи. Наведене активности имају несагледиве негативне ефекте на
акватичне бескичмењаке који цео или део свог животног века проводе у води. У
току 2021. године извршена је процена степена угрожености акватичних
бескичмењака на основу IUCN критеријума. Узимајући у обзир само најугроженије
категорије према IUCN критеријумима (CR, EN, VU, NT), 82 врсте водених
бескичмењака у Србији је угроженo и предложено за Црвену књигу акватичних
бескичмењака. Ларве и адулти водених инсеката (35 врста) и слатководни ракови
(34 врсте) су најугроженији, а поред њих угрожено је и 10 пужева, две шкољке и
једна медицинска пијавица. За 26 врста предложен је статус критично угрожене
врсте (CR), 23 су са статусом угрожене врсте (EN), рањивих врста (VU) има 17, док
је 7 врста готово угрожено (NT). Поред набројаних, за 8 врста нема довољно
података о угрожености (недовољно познате врсте, DD), а вилински коњиц
Leucorrhinia caudalis са подручја Србије је исчезао (RE). Велики број угрожених
врста водених макроинвертебрата у Србији, међу којима су ендемити и
стеноендемити, указује на „алармантно“ стање пре свега због станишта која ови
организми насељавају, те би заштита истих свакако био приоритет. Веома важно је
предузети све мере, како законске тако и научне, како наведене угрожене врсте не
би у скоријој будућности ишчезле са простора Србије. Свакако да би Црвена књига
акватичних бескичмењака требала да буде полазна основа за све активности, које
могу да преузму надлежне институције и невладине организације у Србији, у циљу
заштите водених станишта и угрожених врста водених бескичмењака.

Antioxidant biomarker profile of chironomid larvae from carp ponds: Evaluation of the effects of different fish feeding patterns

AB  - A 102-day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of four different fish feeding patterns on carp pond water quality and antioxidant biomarkers [superoxide dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT), Glutathione peroxidase (GPx), Glutathione reductase (GR), Glutathione S-transferase (GST) and Thiol groups (SH)], protein content and biomass of the midge Chironomus plumosus. Farmed fish were fed two commercial diets: Soprofish 25/7 Standard (containing 25% protein and 7 % fat) and Soprofish 32/7 Profi Effect (containing 32 % protein and 7 % fat). These feeds were combined during a feeding trial in four different feeding patterns, designated as A, B, C and D. In feeding pattern A, the fish received Soprofish 25/7 Standard throughout the experiment and in feeding pattern D, Soprofish 32/7 Profi Effect. During feeding patterns B and C, a mixed feeding pattern was used, alternating between lower and higher protein diets. The study revealed no significant effects (P > 0.05) of the feeding regimens on water quality, so their effects on C. plumosus larvae can be evaluated independently. The activities of the chironomid enzymes CAT and GR showed a clear statistically significant dependence on the feeding pattern (P < 0.05), which increased with increasing protein content. On the other hand, the activity of SOD as well as larval biomass were noticeably affected by water quality, the former increasing with its deterioration and the latter with its improvement. The activities of GPx and GST were correlated with each other, but no statistically significant relationship was found with any of the measured abiotic factors (P > 0.05). Overall, our results suggest that long-term supplementation with a highly concentrated protein diet may have preventive effects against oxidative stress and support the use of C. plumosus as a model for assessing the effects of organic pollution on pond zoobenthic fauna.

AB  - In the course of hydrobiological studies on the territory of Serbia in 2020, three species of the genus Branchiobdella (Annelida: Branchiobdellea) were recorded: B. parasita (Braun, 1805). B. pentadonta Whitman, 1882, and B. hexadonta Gruber. 1883. They were found on the stone crayfish Austropotamobius torrentiurn (Schrank. 1803) in the Magaka River (Delivoda locality, Southeast Serbia) and in the Rukjavica Stream (Eastern Serbia). This is the first record of the genus Branchiobdella and the three species on the territory' of Serbia.

AB  - The aim of the present study was to establish the extent to which the outlet waters of trout farms affect the ecosystems of the Crnica and Skrapež rivers in Serbia. We monitored selected biomarkers of oxidative stress: superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and total glutathione (GSH) in larvae of the species Ecdyonurus venosus, and simultaneously analyzed the changes in the physical and chemical parameters. The investigations were carried out in spring at four localities along the Skrapež and Crnica rivers: one upstream (the control localities), and three downstream from the fish farm outlets. On the Skrapež River, the fish farm was clearly visible and was markedly changed by the chemical parameters of the water, manifested as a decreased concentration of dissolved oxygen, increased concentrations of nitrates, nitrites, ammonium ions, total phosphorus and total organic carbon, and increased SOD and GPx activities and decreased GSH concentration in larvae from the first downstream locality as compared to the control locality. On the Crnica River, due to the high values of water flow (around 3 m3/s), effluents from the fish farm had no effect on the chemical parameters of the water or on the tested biomarkers.

abstract = "The aim of the present study was to establish the extent to which the outlet waters of trout farms affect the ecosystems of the Crnica and Skrapež rivers in Serbia. We monitored selected biomarkers of oxidative stress: superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and total glutathione (GSH) in larvae of the species Ecdyonurus venosus, and simultaneously analyzed the changes in the physical and chemical parameters. The investigations were carried out in spring at four localities along the Skrapež and Crnica rivers: one upstream (the control localities), and three downstream from the fish farm outlets. On the Skrapež River, the fish farm was clearly visible and was markedly changed by the chemical parameters of the water, manifested as a decreased concentration of dissolved oxygen, increased concentrations of nitrates, nitrites, ammonium ions, total phosphorus and total organic carbon, and increased SOD and GPx activities and decreased GSH concentration in larvae from the first downstream locality as compared to the control locality. On the Crnica River, due to the high values of water flow (around 3 m3/s), effluents from the fish farm had no effect on the chemical parameters of the water or on the tested biomarkers.",

AB  - The aim of this study was to establish the influence of a trout farm on the activity of enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and total glutathione concentration (GSH), in larvae of Ephemera danica, and on environmental parameters in the receiving watercourse. The investigations were carried out seasonally (April, July, and October of 2016 and January of 2017) at four localities (SK1–control, and SK2, SK3, and SK4–30 m, 330 m and 630 m below the fish farm, respectively) along the Skrapež River. Discharged water had the greatest effect on the concentrations of dissolved oxygen (DO), ammonium ions, nitrates (NO3−), and total phosphorus. In the case of SOD and GSH, seasonal changes were greater than longitudinal, with maximal values attained in spring and summer and minimal in autumn and winter. SOD showed the strongest correlation with DO, and GSH with total nitrogen. Activity of GPx demonstrated greater longitudinal variability with maximum at SK2 in all seasons and the strongest correlation with NO3−. The obtained results indicate that GPx activity was the most sensitive to the trout farm effects, while SOD and GSH were more influenced by natural seasonal changes of environmental parameters.

AB  - Za analizu aktivnosti superoksid dismutaze (SOD), pod uticajem ispusnih voda pastrmskog ribnjaka u reci Skrapez, koriscena je larva vrste Ephemera danica kao model organizam. Istrazivanja su obavljena sezonski tokom 2015. i 2016. godine, na cetiri lokaliteta, jedan iznad, (SKI, kontrolni lokalitet) i tri ispod (SK2, SK3 i SK4) pastrmskog ribnjaka. Za analizu podataka koriscena je analiza koinercije (CIA). Od hemijskih i fizickih parametara analizirani su: temperatura, brzina vode, rastvoreni kiseonik, ukupni azot, amonijak, nitriti, nitrati i fosfati. Aktivnost SOD karakterise veca sezonska nego longitudinalna varijabilnost. CIA analiza pokazuje da je Fl osa, osa sezonskih promena, a enzim SOD se nalazi na njenom negativnom kraju. SOD karakterise statisticki znacajna korelacija sa rastvorenim kiseonikom (R=0,714, P=0,002), ukupnim azotom (R=0,592, P=0,016) i temperaturom (R=0,834, P<0,001). U odnosu na kontrolni lokalitet dolazi do opadanja aktivnosti SOD od proleca do zime. Povecana aktivnost ovog enzima u prolece i leto je posledica povisene temperature, sa kojom je SOD korelisan, kao i vece metabolicke aktivnosti organizma. Na aktivnost SOD, snazan uticaj ima promena faktora unutrasnje i spoljasnje sredine uslovljena smenom godisnjih doba, posto su kako u odnosu na amplitudu aktivnosti, tako i na obrazac njihovih sezonskih promena lokaliteti nizvodno od ispusta ribnjaka veoma slicni kontrolnom lokalitetu. Izuzetak je jesen, kada aktivnost SOD dostize maksimum na SK2. To moze biti posledica koncentracije kiseonika koja upravo u jesen na ovom lokalitetu ima najnizu vrednost (8,06 mg/I). Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata, zakljucuje se da ispusne vode pastrmskog ribnjaka izazivaju stres kod vrste E. danica sto se reflektuje kroz izmenjenu aktivnost SOD.
